![]() And it makes a game of wondering what the minutiae of each clan's rules are. Its a really cool scene, and because of the similar set-ups, we see a clear distinction in the behaviours of the two different clans. ![]() It uncloaks right in front of him, they face off, it draws its own blade, and they have a sick fight. But this time, the Predator does something different. I cannot possibly express how much it's exactly the same scene. ![]() He draws a katana, removes his shirt, and makes it clear to the Predator chasing them that he's challenging him to a one-on-one fight. In Predators(2010), the character Hanzo, approaching the climax, decides to make a heroic sacrifice and stand off against the Predator. Especially considering the Predator does face off mano-a-mano with Dutch at the end of the film. A usually satirical disappointment found often in the first film's fandom is that the Predator answers a challenge to honourable combat in such a cowardly manner. The Predator, when faced with this scenario, opts to use his invisibility to sneak up behind Billy and kill him. He draws a massive blade, removes his shirt, and makes it clear to the Predator chasing them that he's challenging him to a one-on-one fight. In the first film, the character Billy, approaching the climax, decides to make a heroic sacrifice and stand off against the Predator. Rather than hunting solo, they hunt in groups, and in a scene which mirrors one of the most iconic scenes of the first movie, they behave notably differently. Rather than hunt in their prey's natural habitat, they bring them to a game reserve planet. Now, it's never made explicit within the film, but there's strong indication that the Predators in Predators(2010) are of a different clan than the Predator in Predator(1987). 7.5 out of 10.So one of the things this movie establishes (As far as film continuity goes, I believe this was already the case in various comics), is that there are varied clans in this weird alien warrior society, and they're occasionally at war with each other, and most notably, different clans have different hunting behaviour, and even slight difference in the "rules" they seem to follow. Gotta give it to a film that knows what we love. :) In short, regardless of the negative reviews, this is a film that SHOULD garner praise precisely because it is much better than most Predator sequels. In fact, based on some of the reviews, half the reviewers would fold if they needed to match up to one of these Predators in a battle of wits. ![]() She both outthought and outplayed the Predator (she did not outpower it), and did so while being underestimated. Sadly, the point that the low-rating non-thinkers miss, is that the ONLY "female empowerment" they are describing in their mewling reviews, is actually called "THINKING". make the main protagonist a girl, and somehow that just doesn't seem right. The franchise itself is built upon the premise that NO ONE is strong enough to go against a Predator one-on-one and that it is not only in teamwork, but with BRAINS that they might be brought down. It's sad that some individuals will ALWAYS find something to complain about or not like about anything they are predisposed to not understanding. The fact that there are SO MANY non-thought-out, simply vomited-out comments for this film is truly sad. MORE SO, it is worth watching without a preconceived notion of what it should be, or what gender the hero should be. Finally, the fact that the villains were French instead of American seemed like a huge cop-out to me, but all-in-all, this film is worth watching and then leaving an HONEST review and rating on. YES, yes, yes granted, for it to have been a "better" film, one or two more Predator kills would have been excellent, but the absence of easy or gratuitous kills makes it a more fleshed out and almost 'adult' and realistic (if that can be said about a Predator film), movie, than if the feel-good kills had been there. The cinematography, narrative, framework, story and plot were good to top-tier, the dialogue was simple but effective, the costumes and locales were great, CGI was well-done. Not only did the Predator franchise finally achieve a WIN in terms of meeting and exceeding the buzz and excitement of the original film, they created a film that could take on the buzz and "hype" others in the franchise have generated, but were unable to live up to.
